Body Fluid Proteomics
Body fluid was considered as a rich source of potential disease biomarkers, because they directly contact with a variety of living tissues. The proteins secreted, shed and emanated from tissues were supposed to be readily accessible in several body fluids. When a disease occurs, highly altered protein expression profile in body fluids may generate some undeniable signatures and unwrapped fingerprints, which may provide insight into disease mechanisms. Therefore, body fluids have potential applicabilities for the early detection of disease, the monitoring of disease progression, and therapeutic drug efficacy, especially for their adjacent tissue diseases.
